"Really great exercises for kids who have trouble spelling. It also has tips for remembering which vowel sounds belong with which consonants. I gave four stars only because the little timer it came with doesn't work well and ended up being pretty useless. It mostly just takes up space. With a better quality timer, it would definitely be five stars. I highly recommend this workbook for your child who has trouble with spelling."

- I have a kid who is a great reader but struggles with spelling. This workbook is excellent so far. It goes way beyond the typical "study this list of words and then spell them". The first few exercises have words with related sounds (long a) that are spelled different ways (ai, ay, a_e) and asks the child to fill in the appropriate spelling in provided blank spaces (e.g. pl__). Then it asks the child to look back at their answers and answer whether "ay" tends to occur at the beginning, middle, or end of a word. Very nicely designed!
Also, my daughter LOVES the little timer that is built into this book. It seems to motivate her to do a page and beat the clock. - Really great exercises for kids who have trouble spelling. - This was a really great book to help my struggling 7 year old with spelling. He enjoyed the lessons and both his spelling and reading improved.
- Good book, but it takes my 2nd grade MUCH longer than 10 minutes to complete each lesson. We don't use the timer at all because it would be a discouragement.
